Located in the far northern reaches of the fertile Niagara escarpment, Boreal Berry Farm is an environmentally friendly organic farm and food processor committed to sustainable agriculture. Our no-till and bee friendly methods are proven time and time again with only the top quality, juiciest and freshest fruits going into our products.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
OUR BEGINNINGS
Boreal Berry Farm started with a vision of the power of plant foods and 200 acres near the Ottawa River in 1999. Today we own or operate over 6000 acres and offer the most delicious freshly frozen fruits and vegetables anywhere!
PLANT RESEARCH
As pioneers in cold climate super foods, our far northerly location lends itself to producing flavorful, nutrient dense foods, with our fruits the stars of the show. Research shows northern and arctic fruits have some of the highest antioxidant values. Our fruit grown in grown in rich silt loam, with long days of sunlight, and cold nights intensify the protective phytonutrients and produce high antioxidant values.
QUALITY IS OUR PASSION!
Our early start in superberries led us to supplying superberry antioxidant ingredients for people and pets fighting cancer. Nutrient values and food safety are paramount as a result, and our processing facilities are located right on the farm next to the fields to ensure the produce is frozen within hours of harvest, locking in the best taste and nutrition for the freshest and highest quality organic fruits and vegetables.
WILDLIFE THAT SHARE OUR ORCHARDS
Our commitment to the natural environment shows in the diversity of wildlife that makes our farm their homes. From blue mason bees, to nesting pairs of peregrine falcons and sandhill cranes, we protect our our farm's natural biodiversity by using only sustainable, earth friendly and low impact farming techniques. Harvesting is done largely by hand, we use ground cover crops and no-till soil maintenance.
